Giant pumpkins weighing between 50 and 100 kilos from seeds grown in the US are a common sight on the family farm of Le Huu Phan in Da Lat in the central highland province of Lam Dong.
Farmer Le Huu Phan, 52, from Da Lat poses alongside four of his giant pumpkins. The largest of his giant pumpkins, like the two on the left, weigh nearly 100 kilos. This giant pumpkin has a thinner shell and a more natural orange colour compared to ones grown from local seed. A farmhand cares for a pumpkin carefully turning it daily to promote balanced growth. The pumpkins grown from US seed also have a sweeter taste when cooked says the farmhand.
