On the occasion of the month of action for children 2023, Hoa Binh Provincial People's Committee organized a dialogue between local leaders and children on issues related to children on May 27.
The meeting had the participation of 50 children representing more than 223,000 children in Hoa Binh province.
At the event, children expressed their opinions, their thoughts and aspirations on issues they were interested in, such as: child protection in the online environment; entertainment and playground construction for children; study; traffic and environmental safety; preventing child labor; drowning prevention; preventing accidents, injuries and child abuse; electronic cigarettes; school violence…
Hoa Binh’s officials and representatives of relevant departments, agencies and organizations listened, discussed, and answered questions raised by the children.
Conveying messages and recommendations from children to leaders
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the Implementation of the Child Protection Program emphasized that the dialogue was organized to convey messages and recommendations from children to provincial leaders, leaders of departments, branches, unions, and localities, thereby promoting research, planning, and promulgation of policies, mechanisms, programs, plans, and projects suitable for children.
He hoped that children would boldly and confidently promote their right to participate and speak up their thoughts, aspirations and issues of concern to children.
Thereby, the Vice Chairman requested local agencies, branches, and organizations to create conditions for children to express their aspirations on related issues; create conditions and pay attention to building many playgrounds for children in mountainous areas so that they can have fun like their peers in urban areas; strengthen coordination between family and school; disseminate the law to local people, encouraging the people to condemn, detect and denounce crimes related to children.
At the conference to deploy child protection and care work, gender equality work and for the advancement of women in 2023 of Hoa Binh province on May 18, Mr. Toan evaluated the results achieved in child protection and care work to gradually meet the requirements of child protection at all 3 levels/child protection services; children with special circumstances are provided with favorable conditions for comprehensive physical and mental development; the work to raise awareness about children's right to participate in issues related to children, the rising number of children being supported, given gifts, and cared for on the occasion of major events.
