A Chinese man who sold 60 kilos of fake gold dust to a shop in Dong Nai Province's Bien Hoa City was arrested and charged with fraud, according to police in Dong Nai.

Ye Guorong, 48, was arrested on suspicion of selling fake gold to the Ngoc Phat gold shop in Quang Vinh Ward on the night of December 2.

He and two other Chinese men and a female Vietnamese interpreter entered the shop to sell the gold. They left the shop with a cash payment of VND10 billion (US$446,429).

He received $8,800 in US dollars, CNY2,000 ($311) and VND2 million (nearly $1,000), according to the police.

He was captured in Tay Ninh Province on December 7 while travelling to Cambodia.

The Dong Nai Province People's Procuracy approved the police's decision to file criminal charges and take the case to court.
