Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (R) welcomes Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China in Hanoi
During the trip, Zhang, who is also a member the Politburo Standing Committee , had talks with Chairwoman Ngan and met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Tran Dai Quang, and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
He attended, as an observer, a plenary meeting of the 14th National Assembly’s second session on November 10 morning. He also took part in a people-to-people friendship meeting and the closing ceremony of the Vietnam-China Youth Festival.
The Chinese official also visited the construction site of the Vietnam-China Friendship Palace in Hanoi and met with secretaries of the Party committees of Da Nang city and Quang Nam province.
On the occasion of the visit, Zhang and his entourage laid a wreath at and paid homage to late President Ho Chi Minh at the mausoleum in Hanoi.
At the talks and meetings, the two sides affirmed that they attach importance to promoting the Vietnam-China friendship, neighbourliness and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
They agreed to exert every effort to realise the common perceptions shared by the two countries’ leaders, maintain regular meetings at high level, promote the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms, and improve the quality of investment projects. Vietnam and China pledged to step up exchanges and cooperation between their sectors, localities and people, especially younger generations.
They also agreed to work together to keep disputes under control with respect for each other’s interests and international law, and maintain peace, stability and the healthy development of bilateral relations.
The two sides discussed measures for reinforcing cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Chinese National People’s Congress . Accordingly, they will actively implement the parliaments’ cooperation agreements and increase exchanges between senior leaders, specialised agencies and the two friendship parliamentarian groups.
They are set to continue exchanging viewpoints and sharing experience in country governance and development and in legislative and supervisory activities, while creating a favourable environment for strengthening result-oriented cooperation.
Both sides are going to enhance connections through Party and State channels, bolster communications about the Vietnam-China friendship, and consolidate the social foundation to develop bilateral ties in a healthy, stable and long-term fashion.
They voiced the belief that with joint efforts, relations between the two Parties, States and parliaments will grow positively, thereby bringing about substantive outcomes along with happiness and prosperity for the two peoples.-VNA
