Supreme Chonburi on podium with the VTV Cup trophy.
The Thai club defeated Việt Nam’s national team 25-20, 25-18, 25-10.
It was the second meet and second defeat of the host to Chonburi during this tournament.
Chonburi, who has not lost any set during their competition, brought home a bonus of US$13,000.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian national team beat China’s U17 squad 25-16, 25-19, 25-15 to take the third position.
Coach Thai Thanh Tung of Vietnam said there was a large skills gap between VN and Thailand, which could be seen by Vietnam’s loss to Chonburi in the final match.
“The lack of experience and competition is part of our weak points. VN also makes mistakes in digging and defending, while today the blockers did not work well. We could not catch up with the rapid and dynamic pace set up by the Thai team.”
However, he said it was a lesson for his young players who showed off their determination throughout the match.
