Chun Hsin Tseng of Chinese Taipei won the men’s singles category of the Vietnam F1 Futures tennis tournament in Hue yesterday.

Seventeen-year-old Chun defeated 21-year-old Vietnamese Lý Hoàng Nam 6-3, 7-6 in the final.
Chun is world No 1,138, while Nam is No 1 seed and world No 461. Chun is world junior No 3 and the runner-up of the boys’ singles of the Australia Open. He has become a phenomenon at the tournament after defeating many strong rivals to reach the final, including Jirat Navasirisomboon of Thailand and No 2 seed Alexios Halebian of the United States.
According to Nam, Chun is a real talent and his win is totally deserved.
Meanwhile at the Vietnam F2 Futures which opened yesterday, Trinh Linh Giang, world No 1,504, defeated Aaron Addison of Australia, world No 1,275, 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 after one hour and 46 minutes.
Young talent Nguyen Van Phuong also bested Michael Look of Australia 6-7, 6-4, 6-4.
In the next round, Giang will face Ryota Tanuma of Japan, world No 739, while Phương will meet Ji Sung Nam of South Korea, world No 1,227. — VNS
