Local dancers Tran Hoang Yen and Dam Duc Nhuan play Cinderella and Prince Charming of the Cinderella ballet

Norway’s Johanne Jakhelln Constant is choreographer/scenographer and costume designer. Local talented brother choreographers Nguyen Phuc Hung and Nguyen Phuc Hai are assistant choreographer and lighting designer for the show, respectively.

Young talented dancers Tran Hoang Yen and Dam Duc Nhuan will play Cinderella and Prince Charming while choreographer Nguyen Phuc Hung will be in the role of stepmother. Especially, Do Hai Anh, winner of So You Think You Can Dance in 2015 in Vietnam, will play Autumn fairy and French dancer Chloe Glemot will be Fairy Godmother.

The ballet, which was composed by Russian musician Sergei Prokofiev, is based on a fairytale about the poor, young girl who magically finds her prince.

Sergei Prokofiev was among the popular composers of the 20th century. Cinderella is one of the favorite ballets in the world with over 1,500 versions by different choreographers based on the music by Prokofiev. The ballet was premiered in 1945 at the Bolshoi Theater in Russia with the choreography by Rostislav Zakharov.

Norwegian choreographer Johanne Jakhelln Constant has choreographed more than 40 ballets, including full-length ballets The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Coppelia and The Sleeping Beauty, in her spell with the Artistic Director of Ballet Quad Cities in the U.S. from 1997-2006. She was given three choreography awards for her original works Chairished and Flickering Blue.

Previously, Constant was the first who helped HBSO artists confidently perform a classical ballet and contributed to the success of The Nutcracker on the local stage. In 2013, Constant joined hands with HBSO to introduce Cinderella in Vietnam and has since got positive responses from local experts and audiences.
