The controversy erupted as Miu Le was promoting her latest film Dai Tiec Trang Mau 8 (The Blood Moon Feast 8), which is currently showing in theaters but struggling commercially.
Miu Le, whose real name is Le Anh Nhat, was born in 1991 in Ninh Thuan Province, now part of Khanh Hoa Province.
When she was five years old, her father emigrated to Canada. Her mother later moved overseas after Miu Le graduated from high school.
The singer first entered the entertainment industry at age 19 after her mother encouraged her to attend a modeling class to lose weight and improve her posture.
There, she caught the attention of director Le Hoang, who cast her in an unreleased film project.

Although that movie never reached theaters, the opportunity led to another collaboration in Nhung Thien Than Ao Trang (White Angels), the television series that helped launch her acting career and made her widely known among Vietnamese audiences.
Over the years, Miu Le built a successful career across both music and film.
Her most notable movie role came in Em La Ba Noi Cua Anh (Miss Granny), one of Vietnam’s biggest commercial hits in the romantic comedy genre.
She also appeared in films including Co Gai Den Tu Hom Qua (The Girl from Yesterday), Nha Co 5 Nang Tien (The House with Five Fairies) and the adults-only thriller Chiem Doat (Control).
In 2025, her popularity surged again after appearing on the reality television show Em Xinh Say Hi (Charming Ladies Say Hi).
Viewers embraced her energetic stage performances and humorous personality, helping her finish among the competition’s top 10 contestants.
Her latest project, Dai Tiec Trang Mau 8, marked her return to the big screen after stepping away from cinema for a period.
In the film, she plays a carefree TikToker obsessed with online fame opposite actor Lien Binh Phat.
Miu Le previously said she joined the project almost by accident after jokingly responding to director Phan Gia Nhat Linh’s casting announcement online.
Despite early expectations, the film quickly lost momentum at the box office.

By the evening of May 11, the movie had earned just over VND32 billion (USD1.23 million), according to Box Office Vietnam, raising concerns about significant financial losses.
Vietnam’s Cinema Department has since confirmed it is monitoring developments surrounding the case.
Dang Tran Cuong, director of the Cinema Department, said authorities would wait for the final conclusions from police investigators before deciding whether any action should be taken regarding the film.
“Once the investigation reaches a final conclusion, we will assess the level of impact and handle the matter based on the code of conduct for people working in the arts issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism,” Cuong said.
According to Hai Phong police, officers conducted an inspection on May 10 at Tung Thu Beach in Cat Ba after receiving reports from local residents.
Authorities said they discovered six individuals allegedly using illegal drugs, including Le Anh Nhat, professionally known as Miu Le.
Police said all six individuals tested positive for narcotics.
The investigation is continuing.

Beyond her entertainment career, Miu Le has maintained a strong online presence, regularly sharing moments from both her personal life and professional activities with nearly 700,000 followers on social media.
She has also been known for her luxury lifestyle, once describing herself as addicted to designer handbags during the early years of her success.
In addition to luxury fashion, she reportedly invested heavily in cars and real estate.
Her personal life has frequently attracted media attention as well, particularly rumors surrounding a relationship with content creator Nam Vlog.
The pair were previously rumored to have separated before Miu Le appeared to indirectly deny the speculation through social media activity.
As public attention intensifies, the case is becoming one of the most closely watched entertainment controversies in Vietnam this year.
