Employees at Ha Lam Coal JSC, under the Vietnam Coal and Minerals Corporation (Vinacomin), sent the complaints to the media.

According to the employees, they have been been provided with an additional bonus of VND3m to VND10m in addition to their total monthly wages. The records said they are eligible to all of this and had received the money, but in reality, they had to return 60%-70% of the bonuses to their bosses.

With this sort of money laundering method through 2,000 employees, billions have been taken by the company's managers each month.

Representative of the union of the Ha Lam coal construction and vice manager said the money would be used for team-building trips and to "grease the wheels" with other people.

The employees said they were afraid of the dangers and difficulties when bringing this issue to light but they wanted to work in a transparent environment.

Tran Manh Cuong, director of Ha Lam JSC, said he didn't direct anyone to send or take the employees' salaries. He also promised to investigate and transfer the case to investigators if needed.

On November 29, investigators from the Ministry of Public Security worked with Dan Tri to collect evidence. The next day, Cuong said Quang Ninh Province police had also started to investigate the claims. Many employees have been called for questioning.
