Northern localities are expected to experience cold weather and showers from Friday morning.

Average temperature in the lowland areas is predicted to hover around 16-18 degree Celsius, while the temperature in the mountainous areas will drop to 13-16 degree Celsius.

The cold spell is predicted to bring showers to the northern provinces and medium to heavy rainfall to the northern central coastal localities. The centre also warned of a possible whirlwind and hailstorms in some areas.

The cold spell will also make the sea rough and create high waves of 2-3m in the Tonkin Gulf and the northern part of the East Sea, according to the centre.
