The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorology Forecasting reported that cold air would start affecting the northern provinces from Thursday afternoon.

Cold weather will hit Hanoi on Thursday afternoon with temperature dropping to 17 degree Celsius. 



The centre also reported that the air would become stronger and affect central and south central coast provinces from tomorrow.

Due to the influence of cold air, from Thursday afternoon, northeast winds in the mainland will be levelled at 2-3 grade and 3-4 grade in the coastal region.

In the north, the weather gets cold, while in the mountainous area, it gets very cold. During this cold period, the lowest temperature in the north is estimated from 13 to 16 degrees Celsius and in the mountainous area from 10 to 13 degrees Celsius, and it can even go to under 10 degrees Celsius in some mountain-peak areas.

As of Friday, in the central coastal provinces, there will be heavy rains and scattered thunderstorms. Whirlwinds and wind gusts are predicted during the thunderstorm.

Also, on the night of Thursday, the northeast winds will gradually increase to levels 6-8. And tomorrow, in the waters off the central and southeast, strong winds will be up to levels 6-7. In the north of the East Sea, the northeast wind will emerge strong at levels 6-7.

Due to the influence of the weather, waters off the south of the East Sea, in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands of Viet Nam, the provinces of Binh Thuan, Ca Mau, Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand, there will be showers and strong thunderstorms, with whirlwinds and gust levels of 6-7 likely to occur during the thunderstorms.

The weather forecast for the day and night of Thursday is as follows: a cloudy, rainy day in a few places, light early morning with scattered fog, rainy night. Light wind, northeast winds of the 3rd grade are predicted for the afternoon and night. The lowest temperature is expected to be 17-20 degrees Celsius, the highest is 23-26 degrees Celsius in Hanoi.
