Argentine media commends 12th National Party Congress

Argentina’s Resumen Latinoamericano on February 1 ran an article praising the success of the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) during which Nguyen Phu Trong was re-elected as General Secretary.

In the article, titled “Unity, discipline and renovation –three essential premises of Vietnamese communists”, Carlos Aznarez, Editor-in-Chief of Resumen Latinoamericano, cited Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s closing remarks affirming his commitment to carrying forward the CPV’s glorious traditions and valuable experience.

The Party leader also stressed the need to strengthen solidarity and consensus among Party members, realise guidelines and policies via specific actions and continue with ideological renovations, while creatively applying Marxism - Leninism and Ho Chi Minh thought in the cause of national independence and socialism, according to the publication.

The article described Vietnam as a bright example of development in the region, saying that nothing can change the fact of the country’s development has blossomed under the leadership of the CPV over the past decades.

Apart from workers, peasants and intellectuals, delegates also paid special attention to young officials when electing members of the Party Central Committee, Aznarez wrote.

Armed with patriotism, Vietnamese youths joined the Party with a constructive spirit in service of national development, he said.

The article highlighted the sacrifice and dedication to the nation by President Ho Chi Minh, Party General Secretary Le Duan and generations of Party members during revolutionary movements as an encouragement to young people to continue building a socialist country.

Mentioning Vietnam’s economic model, the Congress underscored the need to raise productivity and increase exports of key items such as rice, coffee and industrial products.

Tourism-related issues also drew the interest of delegates, the article said, adding that Vietnam has become a favourite tourist destination for not only European and Asian holiday-makers, but also those from Latin America.

Another spotlight is how to consolidate unity among revolutionists and the population in order to confront challenges stemming from the capitalist economic war which is occurring in all continents and at different levels.

The Congress adopted the Political Report, the Socio-Economic Development Plan for 2011-2015 as well as orientations and tasks for the next five years, Aznárez said, noting that this shows policy building is important in Vietnam.

It also elected a 200-member Party Central Committee and a 19-member Politbureau.

All delegates are aware of their responsibility to represent thousands of people. Their patriotism will guide the nation’future, the article concluded.

German press hails Party leadership

The German newspaper “Unsere Zeit” (Our Time) recently ran an article praising the success of Vietnam’s 12th National Party Congress, highlighting the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) in the nation’s building and development.

The article said nearly 30 years ago, the CPV took course on Doi Moi, the renewal of the country towards a socialist market-oriented economy. This process has resulted in significant achievements, making Vietnam one of the fastest growing nations in the Southeast Asian region and in the future among the leading industrial nations of Asia.

Since 1990, the leadership of the CPV has been proven and expanded, with its membership doubling, to over 4.6 million.

It appreciated the priorities of the Party in the next five years, including promoting the building of a pure and strong Party, putting into play the strength of the entire nation and socialist democracy, stepping up reform comprehensively and synchronously, protecting the nation, and ensuring a peaceful and stable environment.

It quoted General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong as describing the strengthening of leadership and the fighting capacity of the Party as crucial to continuing the course of economic reform and improving the living conditions of the people in the new five-year socio-economic development plan.

With the leadership of the Party, Vietnam will continue with the principles of “retaining its independence and sovereignty, and ensuring peace and stability in the region and the world”, the article underscored.
