The bridge was built at the cost of VND4 billion (nearly $200,000), invested with State capital.

The 80m long, 3.5m wide bridge collapsed in the early morning of August 5. At that time there was no vehicle on the bridge so there was no human loss

The bridge was built by a local private company.

A representative from the company said that the key reason leading to the collapse of the bridge was a rise in the water level. He further said that the rise in water levels had changed the water flow and caused a landslide.

However, whatever the reason for the collapse, the contractor should take measures soon to rectify the situation and allow local people to again cross the river safely.

The local authorities have temporarily provided ferry-boat services to local people.

The incident is under investigation.
