Since 1995, the two academies have conducted exchanges to share scientific experience and signed 19 memoranda of understanding on cooperation in biodiversity, protection of plant ecosystem, environment, energy, among others, Dam said.

The two sides should accelerate joint researches on materials, space technology, biodiversity, preservation of biologically-active compounds, geology, marine geophysics, in addition to promptly building labs for joint studies and establishing an environment monitoring network.
Prof. Bai, who is also President of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), promised to enhance coordination in scientific research with VAST, adding that a study project on sediments of the Holocene period in Vietnam’s Red River Delta and China’s Yangtze River Delta is underway.
Bai said that TWAS is a global science organisation established in 1985 in Trieste, Italy, representing nearly 130 academies worldwide, including VAST. Each year, TWAS holds a plenary session gathering the world’s leading scientists and science managers, including science ministers and representatives from science academies as well as scientific research and training establishments from all parts of the globe.
