The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) will continue strengthening solidarity and traditional friendship with the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO) Party and promoting cooperation between the two countries, a Vietnamese official has said.

Chau Van Lam, member of the CPV Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee of Tuyen Quang province, delivered the message at the 11th National Congress of the FRELIMO Party in Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique, during his visit from September 24-27. 

Lam said the CPV and Vietnamese people are grateful to the FRELIMO Party, progressive forces and people of Mozambique for their support for the country’s struggle for national liberation in the past and development at present.

He lauded the achievements made by the African country over the past 42 years, saying that under the leadership of the FRELIMO Party, the Mozambican people have overcome many difficulties since the People’s Republic of Mozambique was founded on June 25, 1975. 

The Vietnamese official expressed his belief that with resolutions adopted by the Congress, the FRELIMO Party and Mozambican people will reap greater successes in national development. 

At a reception for the Vietnamese official, FRELIMO Party Secretary General Eliseu Machava spoke highly of the achievements obtained by the CPV and Vietnamese people over more than 30 years of reform, considering those a source of encouragement. 

He expressed his wish to boost relations between the two parties, thus laying a foundation for strengthening collaboration between the two governments and people. 

Lam, for his part, expressed his delight at the success of the Vietnamese telecom provider Viettel’s joint venture Movitel, saying that it is a testament to Vietnam’s investment efficiency in the country. 

He wished that the FRELIMO Party’s 11th Congress would be successful and cooperative ties between the two parties will further grow. 

On the occasion, the Vietnamese delegation met foreign delegates to the congress, attended the Vietnam-Mozambique business forum and visited cultural establishments in Maputo.-
