The fourth industrial revolution brings opportunities but also challenges for traditional craft villages in Vietnam, a truth evident to both experts and local households.

 

 

 

 

There were some 5,400 craft villages nationwide by the end of 2017. These villages generate 11 million jobs and 1.7 billion USD export revenue each year. However, lots of them struggle with societal changes.

With outdated technology, craft villages are forecasted to be vulnerable amid the fourth industrial revolution.

Experts said to help craft villages catch up with the fourth industrial revolution, the government should map out proper policies on labour resources. Besides, craft villages also need to change toward improving their products’ quality.

Foreign experts from Japan and Thailand also share a lot of experience from their home country. Craft villages there renovate to meet market demands and join end-to-end chains for optimal productivity.
