The total number served by travel firms in 2023 was 1.5 million, or 2.6 times higher than 2022, including 503,000 foreign travelers, up 7.9 times, and 911,000 domestic travelers, two times higher.

The city has opened 24 air routes, including eight domestic and 16 routine international routes. About 90-140 flights land in DaNang each day.

Many tourism groups have arrived by air and sea since the beginning of the year. As many as 261,000 travelers came on the 2024 New Year holiday, up 34.7 percent over the same period in 2023.

DaNang, with one of the most beautiful beaches as recognized by Forbes, expects attract 8.4 million travelers this year, including 2.5 million foreigners. Meanwhile, accommodation, catering and travel services are expected to bring turnover of VND30.8 trillion.

DaNang Tourism Department Truong Thi Hong Hanh said renovation was behind the high tourism growth.

It uses social media platforms with a high number of visitors. It has built official blogs for Da Nang tourism, targeting South Korea, China and others. It also pays attention to key opinion leaders (KOL), newspapers and ads. 

Trade fairs are attended to introduce Da Nang as a destination and lure foreign partners to Da Nang’s businesses.

With a policy diversifying source markets and easing reliance on certain markets, DaNang has been trying to open new markets.

“While travelers from large markets have not come back in large quantities, new markets such as India have shown signs of growth,” she said, adding that there is still no direct route between Da Nang and India, but the city still attracts 100,000 Indian travelers in the first half of 2023, out of the total 200,000 Indian travelers to Vietnam.

Da Nang is now focusing on attracting travelers from Indonesia, believed to be a large market with population of 280 million. It welcomed a famtrip from Indonesia in the first days of 2024, discussing methods to exploit air routes from Indonesia and direct routes. 

Da Nang this year will focus on key markets in Northeast Asia (South Korea, Japan, China) and Southeast Asia (Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia), and other markets such as India, Australia and the US.
