On the evening of August 17th, the streets of Ho Chi Minh City were filled with excitement as Vietnam’s Cavalry Unit made its historic debut on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street. This event was organized to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the People’s Public Security, a significant milestone for the nation.

The Cavalry Unit, part of the Mobile Police Command under the Ministry of Public Security, was established in 2020. The unit's primary function is to train and utilize horses in combating crime and maintaining public order. This parade marks the first time the unit has been showcased to the public in Ho Chi Minh City.

The procession featured 40 officers, each equipped with AK rifles, radios, and batons, riding their trained horses along the 1.2-kilometer stretch of Nguyen Hue street. The sight of the cavalry drew hundreds of spectators who lined the streets, cheering and capturing the moment as the horses and their riders passed by.

The cavalry, divided into several ranks, marched past iconic landmarks, including the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee building. 

Alongside them, a brass band added to the festive atmosphere, performing as they paraded through the city.

Before their public debut, the cavalry unit underwent nearly four years of rigorous training. The once-wild horses were transformed into disciplined service animals, mastering the skills necessary for law enforcement tasks.

The horses, each weighing between 300 to 400 kilograms, were outfitted with full-body armor, eye shields, and protective gear for their joints and knees. These resilient animals are known for their strength, endurance, and adaptability to harsh conditions.

As the parade concluded, many spectators gathered around the horses, eager to take pictures with the mounted officers. The event was particularly memorable for families and children, who were thrilled to interact with the cavalry and capture photos of this unique experience.
