Many gardeners from Nhat Tan village try to force peach trees to bloom early for customers wanting to buy before the Lunar New Year festival (Tet).

  Beautiful peach branches with delicate pink blossoms are now available for customers a month before Tet.  

  Due to limited supplies peach trees and branches are rather expensive. A small branch can be sold for VND200,000 while a big one can fetch between VND500,000 and VND600,000.

A local resident from Nhat Tan, Tay Ho district says her family can sell 20-30 peach branches every day.

    If the pink peach blossoms are too pricey, customers can find branches with light pink blossoms for a little less.

    In Hanoi, many families have a tradition of buying peach branches or trees early to decorate their house or place in their ancestral altar in the run up to Tet.
