A press conference for a 2056km bicycle race from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi that gets underway later this week was held on April 4 by the main sponsor of the event, Ho Chi Minh City Television (HTV).
The race will transpire from April 9-30 with the starting point at the Nguyen Hue Plaza in Ho Chi Minh City, said HTV, with 13 teams comprised of 78 riders having registered so far.
Notable international cyclists that are expected to be at the starting line include Ariya Phounsavath from Laos, Loic Desriac from France and Berry Josh from Australia all of whom are riding for Vietnamese teams.
The race, said HTV, is the biggest and toughest race in Vietnam and promises a lot of excitement for cycling enthusiasts. Prize money of US$10,000 will be distributed to the top three finishers.
