VietNamNet Bridge – The central city of Da Nang has told its public servants and employees of state agencies to not use social networks, especially Facebook, for personal purposes during working hours.
In a dispatch sent by the Da Nang Department of Information and Communications to local agencies on October 25, all state agencies are requested to tighten management of their employees in the use of Internet and social networks.
Deputy director of the Da Nang Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Dang Truong, under the guidance of Da Nang authorities, said that public servants and employees of government agencies in Da Nang are not allowed to visit social networks, especially Facebook, for personal purposes during working hours. They are advised to have access to official information published in Vietnam’s e-newspapers.
Da Nang’s public servants are also banned from sharing inappropriate information on the Internet, which distorts the line and policies of the Party and State and causes social disorder, and takes advantages of social networks to provoke and speak ill of individuals and organizations.
The dispatch says that personal Facebook pages are personal electronic information pages so individuals have the right to create their own page and share information on these pages, on the condition that the information does not violate Vietnam law. Each person must take responsibility for the information they publish and share on their personal Facebook page, the document says.
Truong said inspectors of the Department of Information and Communication would cooperate with the local police agency to strengthen the inspection and supervision of electronic information in the city.
At the same time, the HCM City People’s Committee has issued an instruction to ban public servants and employees of government agencies from drinking alcohol and beer on working days, even during breaks.
The city also asked its public servants and employees of government agencies to not smoke at the office.
