A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong attended the Asian-Pacific Postal Union Executive Council Meeting 2018 (APPU-EC) which opened in the central city of Da Nang on June 25.

The event, which will last until June 29, attracted over 120 delegates from 22 APPP member countries, including the APPU Secretary General, General Director and Deputy General Directors.
The plenary and working groups’ sessions will discuss ways to improve operating efficiency of APPU, development trend and policy of postal services, opportunities and challenges in e-commerce, postal logistics and money transferring services, and trade facilitation.
The Board of Directors of the Asian-Pacific Postal College (APPC) will also convene a meeting to consider approving financial budget and training allocation plan for APPU member states. The APPU General Assembly will also be held.
Over the past years, the Vietnamese government has refined legal frameworks to create a dynamic, transparent and competitive market for the post sector, including issuing a Law on Post, relevant decrees and guidelines.
The country has also offered many postal services, ensured service quality and security, and provided all possible support for postal services firms to do business at a lower cost, contributing to regional postal development and APPU’s initiatives.-VNA
