The Lien Chieu District People's Committee has proposed to the authorities of Da Nang City to recover 6,300 square metres of land which has illegally used by a resort project.
Hac Cliff will be turned into an eco-tourism site in order to preserve the woods
Lancaster Nam O Resort project was approved in 2014 and invested by Trung Thuy JSC. After eight years, the ground clearance is mostly completed. However, on March 21, many locals gathered to protest against Trung Thuy JSC erecting a two-kilometre fence which blocks public access to the beach.
The party secretary of Da Nang Truong Quang Nghia surveyed the site on the next day.
Lien Chieu District's authorities proposed to adjust the planning in accordance with the Law on Natural Resources, Environment of Sea and Islands.
Meanwhile, the land along Nguyen Tat Thanh Street could be withdrawn and used for road expansion and to build a gallery for Nam O Fish Sauce Village. The 4-metre wide road which divides the residential area with the construction site should be widened to 5.5m.
They suggested turning Hac Cliff into an eco-tourism site in order to preserve the woods. The locals in Nam O Village have protected the woods for generations and projects with any negative impacts will be met with strong opposition from the public.
Meanwhile, two paths to the beach should be opened at Am Hon and Princess Lieu Hanh Temples. The barriers and fences must have open style so that the whole area still looks connected.
Lien Chieu District authorities said all existing historical sites must be preserved and renovated.
