Recently, Forbes (USA) honored Cam Thanh (Hoi An Dong Ward, Da Nang City) as one of the 50 most beautiful villages in the world in 2025, placing it 20th overall.
Cam Thanh was also the only Vietnamese village featured in this prestigious ranking.
The village is uniquely located at the confluence of three rivers-Thu Bon, Truong Giang, and Lo Canh Giang-just before they meet the East Sea.
It forms a buffer zone for the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An World Biosphere Reserve and boasts a rich brackish-water ecosystem, acting as the "green lung" of the entire region.
Cam Thanh is most renowned for its Bay Mau nipa palm forest-a coastal mangrove ecosystem surrounded by natural sandbanks.
Along with the river, rice paddies, bamboo hedges, old temples, and winding village paths, the landscape forms a painting-like scene rich in cultural heritage.
Tran Tan Dung, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hoi An Dong Ward, shared that every canal, palm grove, and rice field in Cam Thanh is deeply tied to the lives and memories of generations of local residents-both during wartime and in peace.
“Cam Thanh people protect their environment as naturally as they breathe. It’s not forced; it’s their way of life. In many ways, they’ve built this beautiful countryside themselves,” he said.
According to Dung, being honored by Forbes is not only a source of pride for locals but also confirms Da Nang’s rising status on the global tourism map.
This recognition provides an opportunity for Cam Thanh to further develop its potential, preserve its identity, and promote its image as a “green - heritage - sustainable” destination, helping introduce Vietnamese tourism to a global audience.
