Son Tra District People's Committee announced on Monday that they would close the night market from July 1.
"We've asked traders to prepare for the relocation," the committee said. "We're looking for another site in our district, which will probably be near the headquarters of the district people's committee."
Opened in 2018 as the first night market and pedestrian space in the central city, Son Tra Night Market has attracted thousands of visitors every night with nearly 200 stalls selling souvenirs, food and specialities of Danang and the central region.
However, congestion often occurs around the night market next to Dragon Bridge, especially during weekends or festivals.
The neighbouring district of Hai Chau recently announced Bach Dang Night Market as a tourist site. The market will be organised on a 1.20 km section of Bach Dang Street and connected to the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge which links Hai Chau and Son Tra districts.
