On January 8, Da Nang held a press conference to launch DIFF 2025 and its accompanying series of events.

According to Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of Da Nang’s People’s Committee, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) serves as a “magnet” for tourists each summer.

DIFF 2025, scheduled from May 31 to July 12, will be themed “Da Nang – A New Era.” This will mark the longest and largest edition of DIFF, featuring six performance nights and ten competing teams, including Canada, China, South Korea, Finland, Poland, Portugal, Australia, and Italy, alongside two teams from Vietnam.

The festival will be held at a venue with a seating capacity of approximately 10,000 spectators, and over 50,000 fireworks are expected to light up the sky during the event.

According to the organizers, DIFF 2025 will go beyond traditional fireworks displays by integrating art, music, sports, and cutting-edge technology.

Notably, augmented reality (AR) technology will be integrated into the Sun Paradise Land (SPL) mobile application, enabling visitors to experience the fireworks show from anywhere using their smartphones.

DIFF: A symbol of Da Nang’s success

Speaking at the launch event, Nguyen Thi Anh Thi expressed that Da Nang’s cultural and tourism sectors achieved remarkable growth in 2024, exceeding expectations and becoming key contributors to the city’s economy.

She attributed this success, in part, to the significant impact of DIFF 2024. Since its inception in 2008, DIFF has solidified its status as a world-class festival, gradually positioning Da Nang as Asia’s leading destination for events and festivals.

“DIFF has not only become a prestigious arena that international fireworks teams aspire to conquer but also a ‘must-see’ summer festival for global travelers.

Its widespread influence has been a vital driver of the city’s economic development, elevating Da Nang’s status in recent years,” Thi emphasized.

Opportunities for promotion and tourism growth

Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, highlighted the city’s robust infrastructure, with over 1,300 hotels ready to accommodate visitors.

Despite DIFF taking place during the peak summer travel season, local businesses have prepared extensively and are confident in their ability to meet all visitors' needs.

The association has collaborated with businesses to offer various promotional packages throughout 2025, ensuring competitive pricing and reliable quality to attract and satisfy tourists.

Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, added that promotional campaigns for DIFF had been in progress since the beginning of the year.

In the coming months, the department plans to introduce DIFF through international roadshows and promotional activities.

“The fireworks festival is a golden opportunity to promote Da Nang, drawing summer visitors while sustaining momentum throughout the year. With diverse teams such as South Korea participating, we aim to attract a broader range of tourists and establish Da Nang as Vietnam’s ‘fireworks capital,’” Hanh concluded.
