A newly leaked video from leaker Yeux1122 shows what appear to be Dark Cherry and blue versions of the iPhone 18 Pro Max side by side. If these are indeed the final colors chosen by Apple, they come remarkably close to what many fans have been hoping for.
Dark Cherry on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to become the standout color of this year’s iPhone Pro generation, continuing Apple’s recent strategy of using distinctive finishes to give each lineup its own identity. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max previously drew attention with Cosmic Orange, while the iPhone 16 Pro stood out with Desert Titanium.
More recently, what are claimed to be demo units of the Dark Cherry iPhone 18 Pro Max and a blue iPhone 18 Pro appeared in a leaked video. The Dark Cherry version in particular is attracting considerable attention because the color looks genuinely eye-catching.
In the video, reportedly filmed inside a store, the two devices can be seen fairly clearly. One is believed to be a Dark Cherry iPhone 18 Pro Max, while the other appears to be an iPhone 18 Pro in a new shade of blue.
From a purely visual perspective, Dark Cherry on the iPhone 18 Pro Max looks significantly more appealing than in some of the dummy-unit images that surfaced previously. The finish is also close to the shade seen in an earlier leaked render.
Blue iPhone 18 Pro also brings a fresh look
Alongside the Dark Cherry iPhone 18 Pro Max, the blue iPhone 18 Pro Max shown in the video is also drawing attention. It is a noticeably different shade from the blues Apple has used on recent iPhones.
The iPhone 17 Pro came in a very deep blue, while the iPhone 17 featured a brighter shade. The iPhone Air, meanwhile, had an extremely pale blue that could almost be mistaken for white at a glance.
Against that backdrop, the new blue finish on the iPhone 18 Pro Max feels fresher. It suggests Apple may be continuing to experiment with bolder color choices rather than limiting its Pro models to more traditional tones.
According to an earlier leak, the third color for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could be silver or gray. Images of SIM trays appearing in all three colors previously surfaced, potentially offering an early glimpse at the lineup’s color palette.
Notably, the iPhone 18 Pro is once again unlikely to offer either white or black. Those two classic colors are reportedly being reserved for the foldable iPhone Ultra, should the device officially arrive this year.
Meanwhile, the iPhone Air 2, rumored to launch early next year alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, could return to the familiar black and white options.
Some earlier leaked images and dummy units depicted Dark Cherry as a fairly intense red. The finish seen on the latest demo unit, however, appears darker, deeper and more distinctly cherry-toned, giving it a more premium feel rather than looking overly bright.
Apple has become increasingly adventurous in using color to give its products more personality. From Ultramarine on the iPhone 16 and Cosmic Orange on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max to Citrus on the MacBook Neo, the company appears far less hesitant about embracing bold, youthful colors.
It could prove to be an effective business strategy. The iPhone 17 lineup became the world’s best-selling smartphone series in the first quarter of this year, and that momentum continued into the second quarter even after Samsung launched the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
That also suggests the heated debate surrounding the iPhone 17 Pro’s design when its first leaked images appeared did not translate into commercial failure. On the contrary, bold changes in design, color and new features may be precisely what helps Apple maintain the iPhone’s appeal.
