|
At around 5 am this morning, June 10, some fishermen in Xuan Thanh Commune, Nghi Xuan District saw the whale on the local beach.
According to the fishermen, the whale, which is around one tonne and three metres long, could have died 3 to 4 days ago.
They informed local authorities of the discovery and the whale was buried following local customs.
Whale worshipping is a common custom among Vietnamese fishermen who believe that the whale's spirits will protect them on the sea. Local fishermen often try to save stranded whales and bury and worship those found dead at whale temples. Dtinews
