Defence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich hosted a reception on July 4 for Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of Thailand General Chaichan Changmongkol who is leading a delegation to join the first Vietnam-Thailand defence policy dialogue in Hanoi.

General Lich noted of comprehensive and effective defence and military cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand, which contributed to strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between the two defence ministries.
He stressed that in the future, the two sides should increase comprehensive collaboration in various areas, including navy, joint sea patrol, safeguarding fishermen, exchanging experience in managing and protecting the border as well as building borderlines of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
The two sides should also strengthen friendship activities and exchanges of delegations at all levels to enable the armed services to share experience.
For his part, General Chaichan Changmongkol expressed his hope that in the coming time, the two sides will continue expanding exchanges of delegations as well as experience sharing in personnel training, maritime security and other areas of shared interest.
The same day, General Chaichan Changmongkol held talks with Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, during which both sides assessed the cooperation outcomes between the two armies over the past years and discussed future cooperation contents, orientations and measures.
