Deputy Minister of National Defence Nguyen Chi Vinh has reiterated Vietnam’s intention to develop defence cooperation with China.

He made the assertion while hosting Chen Zhaohai, deputy commander of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army’s Southern Theater Command, in Hanoi on December 11.
The Deputy Minister underlined that Vietnam gives the top priority to the ties with neighbouring countries sharing the border with Vietnam.
He reiterated the consistent policy of the Vietnamese Party, State and army of building stable, long-term and comprehensive friendship and solidarity with China.
He took note that the defence cooperation and border management between the two countries’ armies have been reinforced in recent years, thus promoting stability and prosperity in the two nations’ border areas.
Chen Zhaohai said Vietnam and China have maintained security at border regions and improved cooperation mechanisms in law enforcement as well as strengthened coordination in combating and preventing crime.
The two countries will increase exchanges among border guards and the sharing of experience in promoting external affairs and people-to-people exchanges across border areas, he said.
The two sides will coordinate to manage cross-border trade and promote twin ties between border stations and villages, the Chinese officer noted.
Vietnam People’s Army celebrates anniversary with foreign guests Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) Pham Ngoc Minh on December 11 hosted a reception for military attachés and ambassadors to Vietnam on the occasion of the 73rd founding anniversary of the VPA (December 22). At the event, Senior Lieutenant General Minh recalled outstanding achievements of the VPA over the years. He thanked the ambassadors and military attachés for their contributions to defence cooperation between Vietnam and other countries. The VPA Deputy Chief of General Staff also expressed his hope for stronger friendship between the VPA with other countries’ armies, for the sake of regional and international peace, stability, cooperation and development. On behalf of the guests, Colonel Ton That Tuan, head of the US defence attaché office to Vietnam, voiced his belief that the VPA and other countries’ armies will launch many exchanges and joint activities in the coming year, thus developing sustainable and effective relations. |
