The virus has also killed 100 people, four times higher than the figure recorded in the same period last year.
There is no vaccine and no specific treatment for dengue fever, warns the Ministry of Health, adding the most effective prevention measure is to kill mosquitoes and larvae, and prevent mosquito bites.
The ministry recommends people spend 10 minutes each week killing larvae in domestic water containers and use mosquito nets when sleeping in high-risk areas.
A person with a typical case of dengue hemorrhagic fever has high temperatures, hemorrhagic phenomena, and often hepatomegaly and signs of circulatory failure.
If people show signs of fever, they are advised to immediately go to a medical facility for examination and treatment advice, according to the Ministry of Health.
