On April 6, President Tran Dai Quang submitted a nomination list for the new Prime Minister to the National Assembly and Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc was nominated for the post of the new Prime Minister to replace PM Nguyen Tan Dung.

Mr Nguyen Xuan Phuc held various positions: Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the provincial Quang Nam People's Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Quang Nam Party Committee, Deputy Chief Government Inspector, Permanent Vice Chairman, Minister - Chairman of the Government Office, Deputy Prime Minister for the 2011-2016 term.

-Official member of the Party Central Committee in the 10th, 11th and 12th tenures

- Member of the Political Bureau in the 11th and 12th tenures

- National Assembly deputy in the 11th and 13th tenures

“ During his term of office, Mr Nguyen Xuan Phuc has always fulfilled his assigned tasks,” said President Tran Dai Quang.

After the vote to approve the list, the NA will elect the new Prime Minister in the form of a secret ballot.

The voting results will be announced in the morning before lawmakers pass a resolution on Prime Minister election.

The new PM will be sworn into office in front of the NA.
