Amid the complex developments of heavy rains and floods, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha visited Nam Dinh Province to conduct on-site inspections and instructed local authorities to implement all necessary measures to protect dikes and minimize damage to the people.
On the afternoon of September 12, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha led a working delegation to inspect and direct post-Typhoon No. 3 recovery efforts in Nam Dinh Province.
The delegation visited Nghia An dike (Nam Truc District) and Hong Ha dike (My Tan Commune, Nam Dinh City) to assess the situation.
At the meeting, Nam Dinh's Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Tran Anh Dung, provided an overview of the flooding situation. With water levels rising rapidly and disaster warnings at Level 3 on local rivers, authorities mobilized all resources to closely monitor the situation, prepare personnel, materials, and equipment, and implement dike protection measures at critical points following the “four-on-spot” principle for disaster response.
Residents from dangerous areas, landslides, and unsecured dike zones were proactively evacuated to safe shelters. Local authorities ensured that all displaced people, especially the elderly, children, and vulnerable groups, had sufficient food, water, and accommodations.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha praised the proactive and decisive efforts of Nam Dinh authorities and residents in responding to the floods.
With the primary goal of ensuring the safety of people's lives and property, he instructed Nam Dinh to continue prioritizing and reinforcing dikes while preparing comprehensive plans to minimize damage.
After the floodwaters recede, the Deputy Prime Minister urged relevant ministries and agencies to assist the province in environmental cleanup, provide disinfectants and medicines to prevent disease outbreaks, and support affected areas.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized the need to quickly stabilize people's lives, guide farmers in restoring agricultural production, and prioritize areas such as My Tan Commune, known for its flower cultivation.
During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister and his delegation also met with evacuated residents and students at My Tan Primary School.
Acknowledging the hardships caused by rising river levels, including property and crop losses, he expressed solidarity and encouraged residents to overcome challenges, restore their livelihoods, and resume normalcy as soon as possible.
