Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Hong Nam, who is also head of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, made the remark at a meeting with Vietnamese expatriates in Macau on December 12.
“Overseas Vietnamese communities are an indispensable part of the nation”, he said.
Nam underlined major orientations in external affairs and economic development that the Party and State will pursue in the next five years.
The diplomat recognised the significant contributions made by Vietnamese people in Macau to national building and urged them to strengthen solidarity and mutual assistance in the host country.
Currently, close to 20,000 Vietnamese people are working in the Macau Special Administrative Region, with an average monthly income of 500-800 USD each.
