Details of the night-time economic project at the Sky Garden commercial and food street (Tan Phong Ward) were shared by the District 7 People's Committee on July 30.
This project is one of three areas included in the pilot plan for developing the night-time economy linked to local tourism, approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in November 2023.
The other two areas are the Ban Nguyet (Crescent) Lake – Anh Sao (Starlight) Bridge area (Tan Phong Ward) and the N11 Road – Ngan Hang (Bank) Residential area (Tan Thuan Tay Ward).
According to Nguyen Thi Be Ngoan, Vice Chairwoman of the District 7 People's Committee, the Sky Garden commercial and food street spans 2.6 hectares. This area will host 222 businesses, including 125 food service establishments, 40 beauty care establishments, 32 lodging facilities, and 25 commercial and service businesses. The operating hours for these businesses will be from 6 PM to midnight daily.
Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh, Head of the Economic Department, District 7 People's Committee, explained that this area was chosen for the pilot project because it is not a pedestrian street and does not restrict vehicle traffic at certain hours. Additionally, the existing activities on this street are being upgraded.
To support businesses, the District 7 People's Committee has instructed specialized units to guide business owners through completing legal documents, such as business registration certificates, tax registration, food safety, and security requirements.
Additionally, the People's Committee will standardize brand identity for over 200 businesses in the pilot commercial and food street area, constructing a welcome gate at the entrance featuring the representative mascot.
