On July 27, the District 1 police in Ho Chi Minh City issued an administrative fine and additional punishment of expulsion from Vietnam to Tardieu Kerrigan Marcus Trevor (24, from New Zealand) and Extrammiana Pablo (26, from France) for “engaging in activities in Vietnam without permission from the competent Vietnamese authorities."

Additionally, the police confiscated 23 spray paint cans from the two individuals.

Their violation involved using spray paint to deface the metal shutters of a house on Pho Duc Chinh Street, Nguyen Thai Binh Ward, District 1. The police seized 23 spray paint cans of various types.

Tardieu Kerrigan Marcus Trevor and Extrammiana Pablo met online and arranged to meet for a beer before carrying out the graffiti. They referred to their actions as street art graffiti.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the two foreigners had been staying at two hotels on Nguyen Thai Binh and Suong Nguyet Anh streets without registering their temporary residence information.

Their actions took place over a long period and at multiple locations. They would take photos of their graffiti and post them on social media.

Besides the fines and expulsion, the police required the two individuals to rectify their actions by removing all the graffiti they had painted on metal shutters and public walls.
