V.League's Dong Thap sacked their new foreign player Udo Fortune after the tournament's opening match last Sunday.
Udo Fortune.
Nigeria's Fortune had joined Dong Thap under a US$25,000 one-year deal and for a month salary of VND70 million (US$3,100).
The team managers discovered that Fortune suffered from torn front ligaments and had problems with his articular cartilage, resulting in his poor performance during a 1-2 loss to SHB Da Nang.
Fortune had played for defending champions Becamex Binh Duong in the 2012-13 period and had scored eight goals in 24 matches.
The 28-year-old was a member of Nigeria's U17 squad. He was the best scorer, with 26 goals, of the Indonesian league in the 2010-11 period, when he wore Persiba Bantul FC's jersey.
Dong Thap will next host newcomer Ha Noi FC this weekend.
