Drinking water tanks have been put on some streets in the Hanoi’s city-centre district of Hoan Kiem.
The tank is located in front of Dong Xuan Market and Hang Da Market as well as at Son Tay flower garden near T-junction of Quang Trung and Trang Thi streets.
Nguyen Thi Linh, a local resident, said that “These tanks are very useful to her and her friends who do exercises near the places and often drink the water.”
There are warning signs when purifiers are needed to be replaced which will automatically halt water supply.
Tran Thu Thao from Gia Lai Province said it is necessary to have specific instruction for the water use as many blatantly take advantage of the water to wash their hands.
According to Nguyen Van Hoc who lives near Dong Xuan Market, he used to give his son a bottle of water for him to play football after the school time, but now he does not need to do this thanks to the water tanks.
The tank is 1.2 metres high and 50 centimetres wide, made from environmentally-friendly materials.
Hanoi Water Manufacturing Joint Stock Company No.3 is waiting for municipal authorities' permission to provide more such water tanks in many other areas in the city.
