Vietnam’s durian growing area has been increasing rapidly, with durian exports to the Chinese market setting new records.
It is now high harvest season for durian in the mountainous district of Khanh Son. Last year, local farmers earned VND1 trillion from the fruit.
Insiders believe in a bright prospect for durian export to China though the world’s largest durian consumer is expanding the cultivation of this fruit.
The General Department of Customs of China has granted an additional 163 growing area codes and 67 packaging facility codes to Vietnamese durian, according to details given by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
It is expected that full-tax durian exports will bring billions of dollars for Vietnam in 2023.
