From May 15, many fuel stations across Ho Chi Minh City officially began switching from RON95-V gasoline to E10 biofuel as part of Vietnam’s new fuel transition roadmap.

At many fuel stations, employees continuously introduced E10 gasoline to customers while encouraging them to gradually familiarize themselves with the new fuel type.

According to Petrolimex, after more than eight months of pilot sales in Ho Chi Minh City, no incidents or customer complaints regarding fuel quality have been reported.

Notably, E10 gasoline consumption has risen by roughly 40% compared to the initial rollout period.

The company said daily E10 sales across Petrolimex’s network currently range between 3,000 and 4,000 cubic meters, signaling growing public acceptance of the new fuel.

Speaking with VietNamNet, Phuong, manager of a fuel station in Ho Chi Minh City, said the station officially began switching to E10 sales on May 15.

Existing RON95 inventory is now nearly depleted, and the station is expected to complete the full transition to E10 either today or tomorrow, he added.

According to Phuong, initial customer feedback has been positive, and he hopes consumers will continue supporting the product because it is considered more environmentally friendly.

Nguyen Huu Tai, a ride-hailing driver in Ho Chi Minh City, said he was introduced to E10 fuel by station staff while refueling.

After receiving an explanation, he learned that E10 consists of 10% bio-ethanol and 90% mineral gasoline.

The fuel is expected to help reduce emissions, support Vietnam’s green transition goals, and gradually decrease dependence on traditional fossil fuels.

Immediately after the Prime Minister issued Directive 09 promoting the use of E10 gasoline to gradually reduce mineral fuel consumption, Petrolimex simultaneously rolled out multiple preparation measures nationwide.

The company prepared ethanol supplies, invested in storage infrastructure, upgraded fuel blending technology, and standardized technical procedures at more than 2,800 fuel stations across the country.

According to Petrolimex, nearly 40,000 cubic meters of ethanol had already been secured since April for E10 fuel blending.

At the same time, long-term contracts for base gasoline used in the blending process were signed with both domestic and imported suppliers.

Representatives of Petrolimex Saigon said the transition to E10 business operations is being implemented in phases.

Fuel stations will fully switch to E10 once existing mineral gasoline inventory is exhausted, with the company aiming to complete the process before June 1.

Vietnam Oil Corporation (PVOIL) has also completed preparations to launch nationwide E10 gasoline sales from May 15.

The company previously piloted E10 RON95 sales in Hanoi and Hai Phong beginning in August 2025 before gradually expanding distribution across provinces in central and southern Vietnam.
