According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the tropical depression is currently situated over the eastern sea near Luzon Island in the Philippines.

As of 10am on September 16, the center of the tropical depression was located at approximately 17.1 degrees North latitude and 124.4 degrees East longitude.

The strongest winds near the depression’s center are currently at level 6-7 (39-61 km/h), with gusts reaching level 9. The system is moving westward at about 15 km/h.

The tropical depression is expected to intensify into a typhoon within the next 24 to 48 hours as it continues moving westward.

Over the next 48 to 72 hours, the storm is forecasted to change direction, moving northwest at a speed of 10-15 km/h.

The tropical depression is predicted to bring strong winds to the sea starting September 17. The eastern area of the northern East Sea will experience thunderstorms and winds at level 7 (50-61 km/h), with gusts up to level 9 (75-88 km/h), accompanied by rough seas.

Additionally, the depression is expected to cause high sea waves of 2-4 meters in the eastern area of the northern East Sea.

In a weather forecast for the remainder of 2024, meteorologists have indicated that 1-2 typhoons could form in the East Sea by the end of September, potentially affecting the Northern and North Central regions of Vietnam.

There is also a heightened risk of severe flooding in the Central region during the rainy season in October and November 2024.
