Eight people in the central province of Quang Nam have been buried in a landslide caused by torrential rains over the past few days.

Chairman of Bac Tra My District People's Committee, Tran Anh Tuan, reported on Monday morning that rescue forces had found two bodies and four seriously injured people. The search has continued for another two people which they believed to be still stuck in the debris.

"The accident occurred at around 7 pm on November 5 when the landslides suddenly fell on a local house, burying eight family members," Tuan said, adding the landslides were triggered by torrential rains over the last few days in the area.

A report from the district People's Committee said that other landslides also killed two people while four others remained missing in Tra My Town on November 5 afternoon.

Landslides have also occurred in several areas in the central and central highlands regions.

Chairman of A Luoi District People's Committee in Thua Thien Hue Province, Nguyen Manh Hung told the VTC Newspaper on November 5 evening that more than 20 of people have been stuck in landslides while travelling on a road near Ta Luong Hill since the afternoon.

"Rescue work was very difficult due to a huge amount of earth and stones falling from the hill," Hung said. "We're trying to remove the earth to access the victims."

On November 4, a 10-year-old girl in Kon Tum Province was killed by a landslide while watching cows grazing near her house.
