Update news Decree 116
The CBU (complete built unit) imports to Vietnam in the first seven months of the year were five times higher in number than in the same period last year.
The massive import of cheap cars did not occur in 2018 as predicted, but sales in 2018 were still satisfactory, especially domestically sold cars.
In 2018, the automobile market was affected by Decree 116, which regulates manufacture, assembly and importing of cars.
The ministries of Transport (MOT) and Science & Technology (MST) plan to set up technical barriers to tighten the control of imported cars.
Imported CBU (completely built unit) cars are expected to flood Vietnam, as domestic automobile manufacturers prepare to launch new models.
