NONÊ: Look Within Exhibition
17 – 22 Nov 2022 08 am – 05 pm
Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts
97 Phó Đức Chính, Nguyễn Thái Bình Ward, District 1, HCMC
The Look Within Exhibition is an event in the NONÊ project series, showcasing works by artist Suboi in collaboration with domestic and foreign independent artists and directors throughout the journey of developing a music career for years.
The works reflect on reality, perception and vision. Above the intricately structured and thought-provoking circuits are meticulously refined forms. They seem to expand the static space where the subconscious and the intellect intersect.
Cultivate the seeds of creativity to cultivate a strong structure. Endurance, the invisible iteration of the ephemeral concept. NO NÊ is also NO/NONE, marking the moment of awareness of not-self, impermanence and the journey back to oneself.
The works in the album NONÊ will no longer be encapsulated in the form of “music”, instead, it will be a party of light, temperature, sound, scent and resonance to honor the true beauty of people, to write a Look Within Journey.
* Public Entrance (Buy admission tickets of the Museum at the entrance to be free to visit).

A Shift in Perspective
Opening: Nov 18, 04 pm
Exhibition: Nov 18 – 22, 10 am – 07 pm
Fine Art Exhibition House, 16 Ngo Quyen Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi
Everything in this life carries a multitude of ideas that need to change the point of view, we can find in them new layers of meaning. ‘A Shift in Perspective’ is moving continuously, from position to observation method, thereby establishing a thread connecting the inner notion with the outside observation. We look at the tenuous ties that bind us to, and repel us from one’s ideas to another by the transformation itself.
‘A Shift in Perspective’ is a group exhibition, presenting 12 thesis projects, 12 points of view, 12 frames of reference by students majoring in Graphic Design at the London College for Design and Fashion (LCDF), Hanoi. Students look at this notion of a shift as a collective to reflect critically upon the fluctuating timeline of their own and see how they have grown from one point to another in design thinking and methods. Each work is a dialogue of each individual with himself about the changes in perspective.
The exhibition provides a point of entry to a now multicultural, Vietnamese audience to interact with ideas and novel frame of reference, to problems they may have faced multiple times yet not be able to find the right solution to.

Initiated by Behalf Studio during the lengthy social distancing period under the impacts of the pandemic in 2021, the project’s outcome was an interactive platform and virtual gallery of intertwined memos created by the website visitors.
The installation on display for this pop-up exhibition is an artefact of sentimental impulses, citing the project’s original context as well as the team’s year-long critical and graphical responses to the mentally distressing isolation.

TACH would be honored to present “Piece, I, You” – a solo exhibition by artist Luong Van Viet, curated by Do Tuong Linh, at Nga Art Space this November.
“Piece, I, You” was born from the artist’s concerns through his day-by-day observations. As the artist once confided, “A piece is a disjoint part. You and I, each of us is a piece of family, time, friend or money, but we are also most importantly each a piece of our inner selves, wherein lies our spirituality.”

What’s Left is the project by In a minute, a fashion brand in Hoi An by designer Phạm Thị Kiều Phúc. Hoi An is home to thousands of tailor shops catering to 3 million visitors every year. This business attracts tourists and brings huge profits and sales to the private businesses here, yet it also produces hundreds of kilograms of fabric scraps everyday. These fabrics become a huge source of waste, a cause for inefficiency and negative impact on the environment.
In the talk, designer Phạm Thị Kiều Phúc will present the project What’s Left, an approach that turns waste from fabric scraps and excessive fabrics into an abundant and diverse source of local materials that can be used in many areas of applied arts, such as fashion, furniture and art installations.

Light Painting Workshop with Artist Oscar Lebeck
19:00 – 21:00, Tues 15 Nov 2022, 07 pm – 09 pm
Noirfoto
199bis Nguyễn Văn Hưởng, Thảo Điền, Thủ Đức, HCMC
Noirfoto Darkroom-Studio-Gallery is collaborating with Goethe Institute HCMC to organize a workshop on Light Painting at the garden and studio space of Noirfoto, and the surrounding area.
Whoever is confronted with the art of Light Painting hovers between cluelessness and fascination. A dynamic built up through purposeful body movements is then lost in the unknown, in a space that never reveals itself. Under the guidance of artist Oscar Lebeck from Germany, together we peer through the veil to discover the fantastic potential of Light painting in photography.
Light Painting is a photographic technique where one moves a hand-held light source during long exposure to illuminate a subject, directs a point of light directly at the camera, or moves the camera during the exposure. The focus of the workshop is on artistic works in semi-public space. In addition, we will examine different examples of light painting in art history closely.
Oscar Lebeck was born in Hamburg in 1993 and studied at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig and the Glasgow School of Art. His work is concerned with the representation and visualization of traces of history; for example, he reconstructed the cult spaces of ancient temple sites for his most recent solo exhibition at the Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig. With his work, he investigates the perception of places steeped in history and stimulates thought about the versatility of the representation of structural relics.
Exhibition “Inside the Garden”
Until Nov 15, 09 am – 08 pm
The Muse Artspace, 47 Trang Tien Street, Hanoi
This lacquer painting series “Inside the Garden” is a project starting from early 2019. Artist Vu Van Tich once told us that 3-years is the minimum period that he needs to do preparation, due to the intricacies required in lacquer techniques.
Perfecting this artistic medium can be challenging, even with years of experience. The exhibition is made possible thanks to the perseverance driven by passion and discipline of the artist. We have had many discussions regarding the essential techniques and unique values of lacquer – a material that’s mentioned in the book The Artistic Capital of Vietnamese Nation.
