The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MoCST) will conduct a survey on cultural affairs of 53 Vietnamese ethnic minority groups.

The survey aims to create a database on cultural reality of 53 Vietnamese ethnic minority groups and foster management of national culture.

The MoCST proposed Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Ha Giang, Nghe An, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Dak Lak, Tra Vinh, and Soc Trang provinces to select typical communes to conduct the survey.

It will dispatch working groups to study, interview, and document cultures of ethnic minorities especially artisans and prestigious people.

The survey aims to figure out impacts on cultural preservation and forecast cultural development trend of ethnic minority groups in the coming time.

Earlier, the MoCST passed a project on “Combination of economic growth and cultural preservation and development for ethnic minority groups” by 2020 with an expenditure of over VND 54 billion (US$ 2.4 million).

VGP
