Ambassador Bruno Angelet, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam presents a Certificate of Merit to Ly Thuy Vy, one of the winners of a painting competition themed Creative with European Literary Characters. 

 

 

European countries including the UK, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Wallonia-Brussels Federation will present their works which have recently been published in Vietnamese at the book event.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, vice director of HCMC Book Street, Quach Thu Nguyet said that the European literature is well-known for iconic comic strip heroes, such as Lucky Luke, Tin Tin, The
Smurfs, Spirou which are some of the most popular and best-selling comic-book series in continental Europe.

The European literature helps connect Vietnam and European countries in various fields of
policy, diplomacy, culture, education, economy.

The ceremony aslo saw the presence of Ambassador Bruno Angelet, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam and Chairman of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), Emmanuel Labrande.

The 9th European Book Day 2019 featues a series of cultural activities, such as book presentations, readings, workshops, talks, exhibition, film screenings, and discounted programs.

Events will take place in HCMC Book Street, British Council, Idecaf, Saturday Café Salon and Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities from now until May 25.

The European Book Day 2019 will be also organized in Hanoi and for the first time in Da Nang.

In Hanoi, all events will take place at Casa Italia, Goethe-Institut, L’Espace, Hanoi University and Bluebirds’ nest Café while events in Da Nang will be at Da Nang General Science Library and the French Institute

The European Book Day is organized by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) in collaboration with Embassies of the EU member states. SGGP
