The three-day event which was started on took place on May 6 displays documents and maps with historical and legal evidence demonstrating Vietnam’s sovereignty over the archipelagos.
On the first day, the exhibition attracted around 1,000 visitors.
Vo Van Tho, deputy director of the provincial Department of Information and Communications, said that Paracel and Spratly archipelagos are an integral part of Vietnam and the exhibition’s documents and
maps reaffirmed the country’s sovereignty over the archipelagos, aiming to raise the awareness of local people and overseas Vietnamese about the issue.
The event is also aimed to help the international community, including Chinese to understand sea and island sovereignty as well as the country’s expectation in the contribution to maintaining peace and
security in the East Sea, Tho noted.
To date, the Ministry of Information and Communications have organised 101 exhibitions on Vietnam’s sovereignty over Paracel and Spratly archipelagos across 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
The ministry also held the three same exhibitions abroad, namely The Republic of Czech, France and Russia.
Quang Nam was the first locality in the country which organised the exhibition in 2015.
