The exhibition features seven artists: Vu Binh Minh, Nguyen Doan Ninh, Nguyen Van Chung, Nguyen Quang Hoan, Trinh Minh Duc, Nguyen Ngoc Liem, and Luu Cuong.
In this exhibition, each artist demonstrates their own aesthetic sense of cloud. These may be the clouds whose forms and colors the artists have interpreted based on a memory or those that they attempt to capture in real time. They may aslo be imaginary clouds or abstract artistic renderings.
Some artists look at the clouds from the ground, while others stay above the cloud layer to imagine clouds interacting with other surreal entities or depict the clouds through conceptual sculptures.
German poet Theodor Storm once wrote: “The cloud is the most beautiful scenery of this region. It was also here that the famous artist Emil Nolde drew hundreds of masterpieces of clouds.”
Cloud is an object that always changes. Artists can depict a certain moment of it, but will never be able to grasp its tremendous movement and transformation.
Besides, cloud is a natural phenomenon varying among different geographic and climatic regions. It is also an aesthetic phenomenon that has various cultural meanings.
“As the curator of this exhibition, I have been inspired by the richness, variety of genres, and artistic styles of all, as well as by the distinct appeal of each work,” said Dr. Bui Quang Thang, art director of VICAS Art Studio.SGT
