Users of the world’s largest social network unexpectedly saw their Facebook accounts log out and their attempts to re-log in fail.

On Instagram, users could not load new content, while on Threads, a notice about errors appeared and users were asked to log in again.

The trouble recalled a similar incident which occurred in 2021, when Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were down for several hours.

Replying to the question about whether Facebook would compensate clients running ads and promoting their brands for losses they suffered from the platform crash, Meta’s representative said a technical trouble occurred which made it difficult to access some platforms, but the trouble was fixed as soon as possible.

For those who use Facebook just an entertainment channel, the breakdown did not affect them, but for those who do business on the platform, it caused a big loss.

Nguyen Xuan Khanh, an ad agent on Facebook, commented that Meta’s behavior of issuing an apology was a reasonable move.

“I personally think that users should sympathize with the problem,” Khanh said.

Vu Khanh Toan, CEO of Pencco Vietnam and high-ranking strategic advisor to Kobler Vietnam, said the company is running ads for its brands on Facebook, but no loss caused by the breakdown has been reported.

Nguyen Ngoc Thuan in CauGiay district in Hanoi, who regularly runs livestreams to sell products online, said the breakdown occurred at nearly midnight, and it did not affect his livestream.

“However, we and our clients were apart for a certain time. It could be that clients could not connect us during that time and they decided to stop ordering. In this case, the loss is incalculable,” Thuan said.

He said that online sellers consider Facebook the biggest sale channel, so any incident with the social network will causes losses.

The crash of Facebook was a hot topic of discussion among office workers and others who don’t earn money on Facebook.

“Facebook is a large network. But in our times, nothing is irreplaceable,” an office worker commented.
