The husband of Vietnam's famous pop singer Thu Minh has been accused of cheating companies of hundreds of thousands of USD.

Thu Minh and her husband Otto De Jager

To date, at least three Vietnamese companies have denounced Czech citizen Otto De Jager. He is now the director of Global Home SRO headquartered in the Czech Republic.

Gia Han Ltd. Company in the southern province of Dong Nai's Bien Hoa City submitted a letter complaining about Jager's violations to the provincial Police's Economic Crime Investigation Department.

According to the petition, Jager signed a contract with Gia Han to import batches of its wooden furniture totalling VND11 billion (USD493,000). However, to date, Jager has not yet settled the payment despite being Gia Han Company repeatedly asked for payment. Meanwhile, all of the products met quality standards set by Global Home SRO.

Global Home SRO also ordered another batch of wooden products worth USD280,000 from Gia Han but never accepted the order. As a result, the batch remains been still in stock, causing the company losses.

A representative from Gia Han Company said that since 2015, the company has tried to contact with Jager for a direct meeting, and at one point unveiled a banner outside the couple's house in HCM City's District 2 to pressure Jager into a meeting, but to no avail. The company have finally taken legal action.

Another company in Dong Nai Province, Viet My Im-export Wood Ltd. Co. has also denounced Jager's company for not repaying a loan of USD66,000.

Under a contract signed with Global Home SRO in early 2013, Vinafor would provide wooden products; however, a few months later, Jager's company refused to receive the products, leading to the big loss for Vinafor.

Vinafor wanted to meet Jager to discuss the contract implementation; but instead he sent emails to force the company to discount the product prices by 30-50% so he could continue the contract.

Some other companies in Vietnam have also denounced such business practices and have proposed local authorities to ban Jager from leaving Vietnam for the investigation.

Reporters were unable to talk to Thu Minh and her husband. The singer's assistant said that the couple will hold a press conference at their convenience.
